| Malnutrition is a significant health issue for pet birds - it is the cause of 90% of illness in parrots - but there are often no early signs. However, if it is allowed to continue you may start to see the following:
SKIN: dryness, flaking, long nails and overgrown beaks.
RESPIRATORY: sinusitis, sneezing, liths in the nose, airsacculitis, aspergillosis
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: enteritis, hepatitis, pancreatitis (shows up as dark green coloured stools, or diarrhoea or not eating/no stools)
REPRODUCTIVE: egg binding, infertility, weak chicks
ENDOCRINE: feather picking, etc.
FEATHERS: failure to moult, poor quality, abnormal colouring
If you are in any way concerned about the health of your bird then consult your veterinarian.
