Instances of feather picking are something that should be referred promptly to your avian vet. Feather picking is a behaviour that can occur for many different reasons. Some cannot be dealt with immediately by your avian vet, but feather picking can also sometimes be a sign of an underlying health problem that can be quickly remedied by your vet, before the affects become too severe.
Some instances of feather picking can have their roots in nutritional deficiencies. Our parent company, Harrison's Bird Diets International have produced this information sheet that outlines some of the reasons for feather picking, and suggests somethings you may wish to consider and to try whilst waiting for the appointment with your avian vet.
